Piano Grande & Castelluccio di Norcia

  • Umbria’s Piano Grande is one of Italy’s great natural wonders.

This dramatic plain in the Appenine mountains has its base at 1450m and Monte Vettore, its eastern side, at 2448m.

In spring and summer visitors enjoy the magnificent fioritura – ‘flowering’ – of the meadows.

The devastating earthquake of October 2016 damaged many of the buildings in the town of Castelluccio (pictured), so there is currently no accommodation available here.
