Roddi

  • Roddi is one of the northerly villages of the Barolo winemaking area. In wine terms, there is a single MGA (named vineyard), Bricco Ambrogio, which as at 2023 is shared by four wineries. With the vines enjoying excellent exposure, the small production of Barolo wines from Roddi/Bricco Ambrogio are warm and full-bodied.

Roddi is dominated by its castle, which was constructed piecemeal from the thirteenth century. The castle has been undergoing restoration, and as of 2024 it is partially open to the public.  There is also the Truffle Dogs’ University headquartered in the town centre – and yes, this is a real thing!

MTW customers visiting around the time of the Alba Truffle Fair can enjoy a castle tour with a lunch in the castle restaurant.  In 2024 this was provided by Michelin-starred chef Fulvio Siccardi.
