Pavese & Figli

  • Making wine in Morgex

Winemaking in Morgex is no joke.

With no fewer than 250 small parcels of Prié Blanc, totalling 8 hectares (of the sub-zone’s 20), staying on top of pruning and harvest is a job for all the family.  Ermes and son, Nathan, and daughter Ninive – pictured here with Wally – look after the vines, the winery and sales and hospitality.

  • Prié Blanc

The Pavese portfolio contains a number of cuvées and a grappa, and all are different expressions of the Prié Blanc grape.

The Classic Method sparkling wines are fascinating to explore: 24, 36 and 48 and 60 months on the lees.

There are three still wines – all white, of course, and all identified under the Valle d’Aosta DOC Blanc de Morgex et de La Salle appellation and sub-zone.   There’s a classic; there’s one called ‘Nathan’ which is oak aged; and another, late harvest, called ‘Ninive’. There’s also an old vine, single-vineyard ‘cru’ bottling, which is only available in magnum.

UK prices start at £36.95 – enquire to purchase.  The wines are also available in the US, Canada, Australia, and throughout Italy.

  • Visiting Pavese & Figli

MTW clients visiting the Aosta Valley as part of the Heart of the Italian Alps self-guided hike, or Spring in the Alps accompanied small-group trip, are treated to a tasting of the Pavese wines, and may visit the vineyards, too.

Otherwise, please do get in touch if you’re just passing through, or stopping in the area for a few days (we can recommend and book accommodation and winery visits), or would like to do something different during your skiing holiday.
